Alastair Campbell was, until recently, Customer, Markets and Strategy Director at glh Hotels, driving a 3-year transformation to re-position a sub-scale “me-too” under-performer (Guoman/thistle) into a disruptive attacker (glh).
Over the last 3 years, glh has experienced a broad based strategic reset – delivering transformational growth in top and bottom line (+60% over 3 years) – along with step changes in guest satisfaction (TripAdvisor rankings: from 15% of estate top quartile to 85% top quartile), labour productivity (double digit growth) and employee engagement (top quartile globally throughout).
Previously, Alastair has served in strategic transformation roles across a range of industries and cultures. Prior to glh, he was Group Chief Strategy Officer and EVP Business Development at Chinatrust Bank, and before that Group Chief Strategy Officer at SingTel. He has also served as Global Product Head for Consumer Transaction Banking for Standard Chartered Bank.
He started his career as a strategy consultant, with Marakon Associates – where, as a Partner, he served as Asia Head and, latterly, Customer Value Practice lead. He graduated from Cambridge (MA) and LSE (MSc).
